Translate Customer rewards

NASP Rewards fully supports multilingual Customer rewards out of the box with Shopify Markets, Metaobjects, and Shopify Translate & Adapt - no paid translation add-on required.

The Customer rewards page is ready in English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. Each signed-in customer sees the language Shopify is already showing them, based on the languages you publish through Shopify Markets and Languages.

Reward titles use Shopify’s translation features too. NASP Rewards creates a Reward content entry in Shopify Metaobjects for each reward. You add its other languages with Shopify’s free Translate & Adapt app. You do not need another paid translation app just for Customer rewards.

Just the Shopify way

Already using Shopify Markets and Languages? Keep that setup - NASP Rewards follows it. Starting fresh? Add and publish your languages in Shopify, then translate reward titles with the same Shopify tools you use for the rest of your store. There is no extra language setup inside NASP Rewards.

If you skip a translation, customers see the reward title you entered in NASP Rewards instead.

Use your Shopify language setup

If your languages are already live in Shopify, keep that setup and skip to Find each reward in Shopify. You do not need to add them again in NASP Rewards.

For a new multilingual setup:

  1. In Shopify Admin, go to Settings → Languages and add the languages you want to offer.
  2. Assign each language to the appropriate Shopify Market and domain, then publish it when its content is ready. Shopify explains this in Assigning domains and languages to markets.
  3. Install Shopify’s free Translate & Adapt app if it is not already installed.

In NASP Rewards, create the redemption rule. Enter Reward title in the store’s default language named in the editor and preview.

Enter the reward title once

Enter the store's default language in NASP Rewards. In Translate & Adapt, add only the other languages.

Find each reward in Shopify

  1. In Shopify Admin, go to Content → Metaobjects.
  2. Choose View read only.
  3. If Shopify shows more than one type of content, use the dropdown to choose Reward content.
  4. Open the reward you want to translate.

NASP Rewards content is under the highlighted View read only button, even when this screen says no definitions were found.

Shopify then lists the Reward content added by NASP Rewards. Open the reward you want to translate.

If the Metaobjects screen inside Translate & Adapt looks empty, your rewards are not missing. Open the reward using the steps above, then choose Actions → Localize.

Open the reward in Translate & Adapt

On the Reward content entry, choose Actions → Localize. Shopify opens Translate & Adapt with the reward title you entered in NASP Rewards beside the box for its translation. To change the title in your store’s default language, return to NASP Rewards.

Add the other languages

  1. Choose the language you want to translate into.
  2. Enter the translated reward title. If your store has an older Custom Reward, translate Customer benefit too.
  3. Choose Save.
  4. Repeat for the other active rewards and languages.

Check what customers see

Your existing Shopify setup already handles language selection. Most Shopify themes include a language selector when you publish more than one language through Shopify Markets. Use it on the storefront, then sign in and open Customer rewards. Confirm the page and every reward title use the language you selected.

If you change the store's default language

Update Reward title on every redemption rule to the new default language. If you still offer the old default language, add it in Translate & Adapt. Shopify removes any saved translation for the language that becomes the new default, so review every reward translation after the change.
