Store Credit redemption rules

Set a points-to-credit conversion unit that customers can redeem in whole multiples.

Store Credit rewards add credit to the customer’s Shopify account. Customers choose how many complete conversion units to redeem, up to their available points.

For example, if 100 points equals USD 1, a customer with 250 points can redeem 100 points for USD 1 or 200 points for USD 2. The remaining points stay in their balance.

Create the rule

  1. In Redemption rules, choose Create redemption rule.
  2. Choose Store Credit.
  3. Enter a Reward title that explains the offer to customers.
  4. Under Store credit value, enter the Points required and Store credit amount for one conversion unit.
  5. Optional: under Validity, enter how many days the issued credit remains valid. Leave it blank for no expiry.
  6. Choose whether Shopify should Notify customer when the credit is issued.
  7. Review the preview, then save.

The currency comes from your Shopify store and applies to every Store Credit amount on the rule.

Choose a useful conversion unit

The conversion unit controls both the rate and the amounts customers can choose. A smaller unit gives customers more flexibility; a larger unit makes the choice simpler.

With 100 points for USD 1, customers redeem in 100-point steps. With 500 points for USD 5, they redeem in 500-point steps. Both examples use the same rate, but the first lets customers choose more precise amounts.

Points that do not complete another unit remain available for a later reward.

Offer more than one Store Credit reward

You can keep multiple Store Credit rules active. This is useful when the rules have intentionally different rates, minimum point amounts, or expiry periods.

When you activate a new or inactive Store Credit rule while another is active, NASP Rewards asks you to choose:

  • Keep all active; or
  • Pause others and activate.

Use distinct titles when you keep several active so customers can understand the difference. Editing a Store Credit rule that is already active does not pause the others.

Customer notification and expiry

When Notify customer is selected, Shopify sends its store credit notification after the credit is issued. You can edit that email under Settings → Notifications → Customer notifications in Shopify Admin.

The validity period starts when the customer redeems. The exact expiry appears in their Shopify account. Changing the rule later does not change credit that has already been issued.

What customers and staff do

In customer accounts, customers choose an amount, confirm the exchange, and wait for the progress page to show that the credit is ready. The amount also appears in Your rewards.

In Shopify POS, staff choose the Store Credit reward and an eligible amount. After NASP Rewards confirms the credit, return to the cart and use Shopify’s Apply store credit action. Redeeming points creates the credit; it does not apply it to the cart automatically.

Store credit expiry does not return points

If issued store credit expires unused, NASP Rewards does not automatically restore the points. Use a manual adjustment when you decide to make an exception.
